The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian government scheme set to improve the lives of people with disabilities. Since it was introduced in 2013, the NDIS has provided funding to help people with disabilities access services, support and assistance that meets their individual needs and goals. However, the scheme was not perfect when it was introduced. There were concerns about the quality of services and safety of participants, leading to the establishment of the NDIS Safeguard Commission. In this blog, we’ll discuss why the NDIS needs the safeguard commission, and what it does to ensure participants are safe and protected.
